Scott VanLoo

I'm thrilled to be a part of this year's middle school cross-country program and eager to contribute my expertise. I'll be introducing a range of workout plans and activities, drawing on my coaching background with the Let Me Run program plus the previous years as head coach for MMS XC and my personal running experiences. I'm excited to incorporate some fresh ideas and help the students reach their full potential.

All About Me

Originally from Portage, MI (Portage Northern '92), and graduated from KVCC. I reside in Mattawan with my wife, Susan, and two boys, Sam (junior at Northwestern University) and Ben (11th grade at Mattawan).

I work for Zoetis as a Digital Data & Analytics Project Financial Analyst within the ZTD division. I enjoy process improvement analysis and getting my hands on website development and technology gadgets. I also jump online periodically and join my son's Fortnite squad to see if I can hang with them. I've been known to crank some good 90s (as Ben would say) with my building tactics.

Hobbies include running, swimming, home theater building, graphic design/website development, waterskiing, wakeboarding, and computer gaming.

Running Background

I have loved running since I was a child and have continued to make it a part of my lifestyle. Starting as a sprinter when I was younger, I now run multiple races each year, ranging from 5Ks to ultra-marathons. In 2008, I realized that my health was suffering, and I weighed 235 lbs. I made the decision to get back in shape, and now I run an average of 50 miles a week. Not only have I finished ultra-marathons, but I also feel much healthier and better about myself. My love for running has allowed me to give back to the community by sharing my story and inspiring others to become runners or continue their running journey.
